Council confirms two Planning & Zoning nominations, approves other committee appointments

The council approved multiple appointments recommended by the Administrative Committee. Members voted unanimously to appoint Rhonda Spaziani to the Planning & Zoning Commission to fill a partial term through October 2027 and to name James Rogers as an alternate member to complete a similar term.

Supporters said the candidates brought varied experience — Spaziani previously served as an alternate and Rogers' background in the naval industry and project management were cited by an administration councilor as evidence of capability. Public commenters had urged greater vetting and transparency; the administration acknowledged the website migration created an accessibility gap and said the committee would consider standardizing applicant questionnaires in the future.

Other appointments included a library-commission appointment and an additional slate of candidates presented by the administration committee. The council recorded roll-call approvals for each appointment.
