The Village of Pleasant Prairie Board of Review voted Wednesday to approve waivers sending multiple Exeter-related property assessment appeals to circuit court. The board acted after assessment staff told members that owners had "substantially complied with the terms of our subpoena," and that the owners had requested the board's approval to waive hearings before the Board of Review and pursue relief in circuit court.
Rakovita of the assessor's office told the board the attorney for the owner had asked for a one-week extension to provide information that had previously been deficient and that staff had received most of the requested materials. "The attorney for the owner had asked for next week's extension to provide the additional information that they were deficient in previously, and we gave it to them and they have substantially complied with the terms of our subpoena," Rakovita said. A committee member moved to approve the waiver for all listed Exeter parcels; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with all voting members recorded as yes (Jill Sikorski, Dave Hildreth, William Morris and Ron Victorio).
Board members noted there is ongoing litigation related to some of the properties for previous years, which staff flagged during the discussion. The clerk entered the relevant parcel numbers into the record before the board voted.
