EDC reports capital-project progress and retail outreach; grocery site interest noted

EDC staff provided monthly reports and a development update at the Sept. 9 meeting, saying Irvin Park ball fields are nearing completion and playground work at two parks will finish this fall. Staff included maps of CIP projects in the meeting packet and said final photos will be shared when construction completes.

On retail recruitment, staff said they attended an Austin trade show and met with major retailers and brokers, citing interest from chain restaurants and a grocery developer. Staff said discussions have produced a letter of intent (LOI) from a retailer called Zatsby's and noted ongoing talks with grocery developers about a 69-acre tract near I‑20 and Beltline.
