The Montgomery Township Board of Health advanced Ordinance 2026-01 — a comprehensive salary and wage plan for nonunion health-department employees that includes the health officer salary — on its first reading and set a second reading for Oct. 14, 2026. The chair said the ordinance updates salary ranges for the health department and follows township procedures for publishing a notice of pending ordinance.
Board members discussed whether the salary ranges are consistent with other township employees and nearby jurisdictions, whether ranges or individual salaries should change, and the mechanics of getting employees to the top of a range over time. The chair said the board generally follows the township's union-negotiated formula for annual adjustments and proposed applying that formula to the nurses' ranges. After discussion, a member moved and another seconded the ordinance for first reading; the board approved it on a roll-call vote.
“The ordinance is for a comprehensive salary and wage plan for the township of Montgomery Board of the Department of Health and provides for the administration of the salary ordinance,” the meeting chair said during discussion. The chair announced the second reading and publication schedule as required by law.
