District staff presented the proposed Capital Improvement Plan and outlined work completed and remaining across multiple facilities.
The presentation noted roof replacements across schools with remaining sections at the middle and high school requiring either repair or replacement; staff said switching to TPO roofing will provide better drainage and energy benefits. The report also described HVAC work: the primary school has 36 individual air handlers (18 replaced to date, 18 remaining) and rooftop-unit replacements across several buildings. Staff flagged a state-driven air-quality requirement that may require sensors for rooftop units and provided a baseline estimate of roughly $10,000 per unit, while cautioning that the final cost depends on the required sensors and installation.
Other CIP items included a temporary track coating expected to extend life by five years and a potential $200,000 cost to move stadium lighting to the desired configuration. Staff said cost estimates have risen since last spring and that a new elementary school remains a likely long-term capital need with a preliminary cost estimate discussed by the board.
