HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — At its Aug. 12 meeting, the Hanover County Economic Development Authority received a series of project and permitting updates that could shape development patterns in the county.
Secretary Brandon Turner told the Authority that Kroger "has officially purchased the King’s Acres property and will work with the County on layout and design," and that a developer has the Old Greentop property under contract with plans for hotel, medical office, food service and a high-end grocery store. He said Kings Dominion will meet with county representatives on Aug. 21 to discuss ancillary property and potential opportunities related to a future sale. Turner also noted a public meeting for a Rosendin special exception regarding rooftop air-conditioning units scheduled for Aug. 13, with the Board of Supervisors set to vote on that request Aug. 26. Separately, Turner said Amazon will begin rolling out air delivery via drones to locations within a 7.5-mile radius of its Henrico County facility and that a Community Meet and Greet is scheduled for Aug. 27 at the Richmond Raceway to introduce the service.
Turner reported a Conditional Use Permit for a speculative warehouse project was approved by the Board of Supervisors with conditions addressing viewshed, traffic and noise; he did not provide project names or dollar figures for those approvals during the EDA meeting.
