Dr. Brandy Roberts, the LSU system chief financial officer, presented the proposed FY27 operating budget and described revenue and allocation changes before asking the board for approval. She said the system projects roughly $1,553,000,000 in operating revenue for FY27—about a 3% increase over FY26—and a total budget including restricted funds of approximately $4.1 billion. “As you look across the revenue sources, the state general fund increased by a net of $7,200,000, while statutory dedications decreased about $6,700,000,” Dr. Roberts said.
Roberts noted $19,000,000 from the Board of Regents formula funding went to the LSU system this year as part of a $56,000,000 investment across higher-education systems. She outlined one-time appropriations adjustments and projected additional self-generated revenues tied to enrollment and online market growth. After discussion, the board voted to approve the operating budget and the recommended priorities to present to the Board of Regents.
Why it matters: The operating budget and priorities determine campus allocations, hiring and strategic investments in research, student success, and infrastructure for the coming fiscal year. The board approved both the budget and the request that the president present additional strategic investments to the Board of Regents on September 22.
