Jackson County backs application for all‑inclusive Longview Lake playground; not a funding commitment

The Jackson County Legislature adopted a courtesy resolution supporting the county’s application for an all‑inclusive playground at Longview Lake. County Executive explained the application process and the size of the local match: "The matching amount is $750,000 So it's a big chunk of change for this." The chair called the motion to adopt and the roll call recorded 7 yes, 2 absent.

County Executive said the application would not itself obligate the county to fund the project; if the grant were awarded the county would later decide whether to participate and how to meet the match. Several local mayors have submitted letters of support, and the administration said Jackson County has been narrowed to 10 finalists nationally for the award.
