Mike Roberts asks board to name high-school wrestling room in his father's honor

Mike Roberts introduced himself to the board and asked trustees to consider naming the high-school wrestling room after his father, describing a long record of coaching and community involvement. "We're here for the purpose to see if we can get the wrestling room up at the high school named in my dad's honor," Roberts said, recounting state champions, former students' success, and lifetime-achievement awards.

Several community members and former students spoke in support. One resident recalled being taught by Roberts' father and said the coach "instilled in his students the drive to succeed and the drive for perfection." Trustees thanked the speakers and took the request under advisement; the chair asked staff (Sharon) to place the naming request on the next agenda so the board can consider formal action.
