The Butler County commissioners voted to accept a letter from the Clerk of Courts reporting $1,250,000 in excess title-division funds and approved a $2,000,000 transfer from the general fund into the budget stabilization account. The board also adopted the 2017 annual budgets the finance director presented: $95,982,936 for the general fund and $294,311,873 for non-general funds.
A county finance director noted the items were intended to prevent negative balances and asked the board to approve the year-end adjustments without reading the full packet. The finance director described the Clerk of Courts' report and the requested transfers: “We are asking you to accept the letter of declaration from the Butler County Clerk of Courts acknowledging an excess of funds from the title division in the amount of $1,250,000 to be deposited into the general fund, and we did receive a letter from the Clerk of Courts in this regard.” The motion to approve was seconded and carried unanimously.
The transfers and budget adoption were taken up at the start of the meeting as part of year-end finance items and passed on voice/roll-call votes.
