Community development staff reviewed the 2019 CDBG entitlement cycle and presented a recommended slate of projects to the commissioners. Staff said the county received 40 applications totaling about $4 million in requests while estimating approximately $1.7 million in available funding; the action plan is due to HUD by March 15.
Among the projects recommended for funding were: a Millville community center accessibility ramp; a $57,000 local match for the New Miami water tower replacement (leveraging 90% OPWC funds); a $190,000 street repair recommendation for Milford Township; $40,000 for Riley Township community center sidewalk and ramp; $53,000 toward Trenton Douglas Avenue water main replacement; $150,000 recommended for a Sojourner Recovery Services addiction and mental health crisis center pilot in Hamilton (remodel of a donated building); and $75,000 recommended to support Oxford Community Choice's new building and related site work. Staff and commissioners discussed phasing and requested additional operating-commitment details before finalizing the list.
