Staff brought new business to the Arts, Recreation & Culture Committee proposing a tentative Marsh Oaks ribbon cutting to follow the town’s Veterans Day ceremony at about 9 a.m., and asked whether committee members had suggestions for the event.
"We were thinking about doing the ribbon cutting on Veterans Day after the event that always takes place," staff said, suggesting a small community lunch and that the garden may be completed by then. A committee member asked, "Could we get a flyover?" and staff said a flyover would "cost somebody money" and would require approvals including the FAA, but that "it doesn't hurt to ask." The committee discussed sound setup, a guest veteran speaker and the park memorial bricks that are sold and engraved as part of ongoing fundraising.
Why it matters: the Marsh Oaks ribbon cutting would tie a local dedication to an existing Veterans Day ceremony, increasing visibility for the garden project while introducing logistical questions (timing, FAA approvals for any flyover, and event amenities).
