Council queries staff on median landscaping, TxDOT maintenance

Council members raised questions about landscaping and who is responsible for median maintenance along Texas Avenue and other corridors.

A council member asked which medians would be included in proposed landscaping work and whether the city would water newly planted shrubs during hot conditions. Staff said TxDOT‑maintained medians on Texas Avenue remain under TxDOT control, and that the William Joe Bryant project is still in a punch‑list phase with TxDOT and would not be maintained by the city until it is released, possibly January 1.

Staff added that the city's contractors will maintain medians from Texas Avenue to Highway 6 once those areas are transferred and that the city has been sending reminders to responsible contractors to help keep plantings alive during hot weather. There was no formal action; council moved to the next agenda item.
