Bryan City Council adopted the fiscal year 2027 budget on Sept. 8, with staff presenting a $569 million all-inclusive figure and a plan that keeps the general fund balanced.
Finance presenter Alicia walked council through revenue and expenditure lines, telling members: "That was the total budget, dollars $569,000,000 all inclusive." She said property taxes make up about 44.9% of general fund revenues and that the adopted tax posture keeps the city close to its days-of-cash policy targets.
Council conducted a roll-call vote for the second and final reading of the ordinance to adopt the FY27 budget; the motion passed unanimously. Councilmembers and the mayor praised staff for maintaining fiscal discipline and for arranging a budget that accounts for capital carryovers and mid‑year changes.
The adopted budget incorporates previously approved carryover projects and adjusts for new exemptions and valuation shifts flagged in the tax-rate discussion; staff said the presentation and adoption were designed to preserve key services and the city's bond rating.
