Council approved rezone case RZ26-15 on Sept. 8 to amend a planned development on about 2.21 acres north of Woodson Drive (addressed 600 Woodson Drive).
No members of the public spoke during the open meeting. A councilmember who moved the approval said the project is "a welcome addition" to the neighborhood and noted the developer's concept includes a parking garage and mixed indoor/outdoor spaces aimed at an older, graduate-student demographic. "I think it's gonna be a great addition, not just to District 5, but to the city of Bryan," the councilmember said.
Planning & Zoning had forwarded a unanimous recommendation. After a motion, second and brief remarks, council voted to approve the rezoning unanimously.
The rezone adjusts concept drawings and development standards for the PD to allow the proposed multifamily-oriented development; no public speaker testimony was recorded during the hearing.
