County staff (Chris) told commissioners the county will publish a request for proposals (RFP) for new dispatch network infrastructure; the board agreed to approve the RFP for public release. "I sent that document out, and I just wanted to make sure to get your guys approval and to make sure that there was nothing in that that would cause a problem with the county contracting," Chris said.
Chris also updated the board on storm-damage submissions to the state for FEMA validation, noting that if the state validates eligible damage above roughly $80,000 the county could be placed on a presidential-declaration list and then pursue FEMA cost-share for eligible work. Commissioners asked clarifying questions about what costs FEMA covers (overtime and emergency work, not routine highway hours) and approved moving forward with publishing the RFP.
