Diane Korneke, superintendent of Lake County Schools, said the district created the Lincoln Park Education Center to provide an alternative high‑school experience for students who need greater flexibility. "Student success doesn't follow just 1 path," Korneke said as she introduced the program.
Korneke said the Clairemont site offers flexible scheduling and support services that let students balance part‑time jobs, travel sports and coursework while pursuing graduation. "That's why we created the Lincoln Park Education Center," she said, adding the school aims to give students an environment that fits their individual goals.
The superintendent described dual‑enrollment opportunities with Lake Sumter State College and Lake Technical College as a core feature, enabling students to gain career and technical skills while completing high‑school requirements. Korneke framed the program as a district effort to "meet students where they are" and help them move toward post‑secondary education or employment.
