Attorney Beeman presented a proposed participation in the Indivior national settlement negotiated by the state attorney general’s office. He summarized the agreement as two parts: a $1.5 million cash distribution and an agreement that Indivior will make $2 million worth of Suboxone or Sublocade available at wholesale for use in government detention or correctional facilities. Beeman said the state is distributing funds by population formula and that Allegheny County’s direct cash share would be $5,369.34 with an additional $9,664.82 in targeted abatement grants.
Beeman said the medication allotment could provide three to four years’ worth of supplies for jurisdictions across the state and that the county’s detention center estimated annual Suboxone use at approximately $30,000 to $35,000. He said the deadline to participate through the Office of the Attorney General is Oct. 7; the board moved and approved participation by voice vote.
