Newbury to return assistant town clerk to full time; three candidates under consideration

The Newbury Human Resources Board was told the assistant town clerk position, which had been a part‑time post, is being advertised as full time and the town expects to fill it. Diane Doyle said the posting closed last week with three candidates and the town is moving forward with one of them; she also said budget adjustments in other departments will allow the town to cover the change to full time.

"We had 3 candidates and I believe they're moving forward with 1 of them," Doyle said, adding that the current part‑time employee had the option to apply but did not want full time. Board members indicated a hiring report should be available at the next meeting.
