Drew White, host of This Week in LaPorte County, and Eric Williams, a Michigan City special events organizer, outlined the scale of the Labor Day–weekend Oktoberfest at Washington Park, saying the event will include a large vendor area and a multi-stage music lineup.
"I think we're close to 70 this year, so we're up from last year," Eric Williams said, noting that the festival will include a craft and merchandise vendor area and about "11 or 12" food vendors. Williams added the music program has grown as well: "We're over 50 bands this year."
The hosts emphasized that the vendor pool includes many local businesses. Williams said several new vendors will appear this year alongside returning staples, and organizers view the festival as an opportunity for small businesses to earn revenue and raise local visibility. The episode also directed listeners to the Michigan City special events Facebook page for a detailed schedule of acts across Friday through Monday.
Organizers urged attendees to check stage assignments and times online; Williams noted that a few acts were still being confirmed and that additional performers were announced in the days before the event.
