Consultants from Multi Studio formally launched Spring Hill's comprehensive-plan update at a joint work session on Sept. 3, telling councilmembers and planning commissioners the project will proceed in four tasks over roughly six months.
"The comprehensive plan is your policy document to guide growth, zoning, and development for the long term," said Graham Smith of Multi Studio, who described the plan as a "living document" meant to guide future zoning updates and public and private investment. Smith said the project team — led by Multi Studio with Wilson & Company (transportation) and Rich Caplan & Associates (market analysis) — has completed project initiation and is finishing the community profile, a snapshot of existing conditions.
Smith outlined an engagement program that mixes advisory committees, stakeholder interviews, neighborhood meetings, pop-up events and online tools. The project website, springhillkscompplan.com, went live two days before the kickoff and already had collected 26 survey responses, the consultant said. The team also scheduled a public open house for the following Thursday (4–7 p.m.) and a multi-day visioning workshop in October to gather further input.
City staff asked planning commissioners and councilmembers to attend neighborhood HOA meetings and other local gatherings to boost participation and provide paper survey options for residents with limited internet access. The consultants said they will provide printed questionnaires and drop-off points and can adapt outreach to reach seniors, students and business customers.
