Presenter (speaker 1) opened the Mesquite ISD Hall of Honor ceremony, saying, “Let us honor you today,” and described the hall as a recognition for people who have made significant contributions to district athletics as athletes, coaches, staff or supporters. The program thanked sponsors and school board members and explained that proceeds from the district’s golf fundraiser support the awards and program materials.
The ceremony included legacy inductees, coach and athlete honorees, a team induction and a scholarship presentation. Bucky Taylor and members of the selection committee introduced the Dr. Joey Perron scholarship and named Mesquite High student Ariana Gamino as the recipient; Ariana told the audience the award will help her pursue nursing and advanced practice study. The event also included a longer tribute to long‑time Mesquite educator and coach Ross Hall and remarks from inductees including Sarah Wolfskill and Coach Mark Elam. Malik Jefferson used his acceptance to discuss health issues and community service and said he was stepping back from competitive activity.
Deputy Superintendent Dr. Janine Fields closed the program, thanked staff and volunteers and noted evening events at Memorial Stadium planned after the ceremony.
