The board voted to approve items 14 and 15, a rezoning and plan amendment for a proposed gym/sports facility near the airport at 1532 Clossom Road, with conditions addressing hours, outdoor music and lighting.
Strauns Walsh of the Bowie association said the association supported the rezoning so far but asked staff to address outstanding environmental and traffic matters during site-plan review, noting the parcel's proximity to rail lines and a creek and that the five-acre site lies in a floodplain. "Esta parcela de 5 acres... esa propiedad está en el área de inundaciones," he said, urging careful review.
Councilmember White moved to approve the items with added conditions: noise levels to meet city standards from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.; outdoor music must end at 9 p.m.; operations must be indoors by 10 p.m.; and specified lighting controls. White thanked the developer and partners for their collaboration; the motion passed.
