Henry Clay Township supervisors voted to approve a resolution directing staff to pursue a multimodal grant for the Myers Road Bridge. The resolution passed after supervisors discussed recent damage and the project's eligibility for state funding.
A supervisor raised concerns about a winter fire and said the local fire department had expressed doubt about driving fire trucks across the structure. "We got a grant going in for Myers Bridge," the supervisor said. Harshman engineer Rich Rush reviewed the site and recommended the Myers Bridge project as the one most likely to be funded through the program, the Harshman planner told the board during a staff report. The planner said the state MAP and technical-assistance programs could also help the township update zoning and comprehensive plans; she flagged a September 1 deadline for one MAP application.
The board approved the resolution to pursue grant funding and asked staff to coordinate with the county bridge crew and the conservation district to schedule construction. Supervisors noted weather and delivery coordination with the county bridge crew could shift project timing.
