During the grant update and road-project discussion, a supervisor said past work on a Beavercreek project had been mishandled, resulting in financial penalties to the township. "We ended up getting a $110,000 fine in our liquid fuels from the way they misspent the money," the supervisor said, describing the fine as the reason a funder was reluctant to return to assist on road projects.
The supervisor argued that if the current Beavercreek work goes smoothly, the township could regain the confidence of the conservation district or other funders and again be considered for help on future projects such as Taylor Road. Board members discussed scheduling challenges, delivery coordination and expected truck traffic that might affect road edges during the bridge delivery and construction.
Residents and supervisors also discussed speed and truck routing to avoid damage to edge drop-offs on roads near project sites. No funding recoupment or recovery actions were described at the meeting; the supervisor characterized the $110,000 as a penalty to the township's liquid-fuels account from earlier work.
