Kelis Lawrence, introduced as the 2026–2027 youth council mayor, led the youth council presentation at the start of the Dublin City Council meeting and outlined outreach and service priorities for the year. "We believe that engaging young people in local government is about giving the younger generation a chance to speak up and learn about what's happening in our own community," a youth council member said during the presentation.
City staff read the names and roles of council members and Judge Snipes administered the oath of office before the council meeting. The youth council described recent activities — trash pickup and Juneteenth participation — and announced upcoming events including a downtown scarecrow competition, a youth symposium in Statesboro (Oct. 2–4) and a field day slated for Oct. 10 at the Oconee Gym featuring basketball and flag‑football tournaments and activities for younger children.
Council members praised the youth for their volunteer work and for opening pathways to internships and leadership opportunities. Several council members offered continuing support and encouraged the youth council to remain engaged with city projects and events.
