Council members and staff pressed the task force to include explicit personnel protections in the interlocal agreement to minimize disruption to existing 911 employees.
Councilman Hondros emphasized the importance of protecting longevity pay and other benefits, arguing the language should say the consolidation "not create any job losses or reduction in pay benefits, seniority, no loss in longevity pay," a formulation the city attorney agreed could be added. Participants said such language would give current employees comfort during a transition to a joint PSAP.
