East Hampton High School is introducing several new classes this year, including AP Cybersecurity and AP Business and Personal Finance, Principal Sarah Smith told the broadcast. The principal said staff expertise and strong student interest enabled the additions.
"AP cybersecurity... that is a huge, and quite lucrative job market right now," the principal said, adding that the district has teachers qualified to teach the new AP cybersecurity and AP business courses. (Principal Sarah Smith, SEG 147–156)
The school is also offering a cooking class option for life-skills students to support IEP goals, expanding its culinary program and providing practical work experience through the school store. The language catalog will add Italian Level 1, and the district plans to distribute MacBook Neo laptops to replace earlier Chromebooks. "Overall," Smith said, "the school is ready for students' return on Tuesday, September 8, and the faculty and staff are looking forward to creating a positive school year." (Principal Sarah Smith, SEG 192–194)
The broadcast did not include details on class capacities or funding sources for the laptop rollout.
