The Saint Tammany Parish Council convened in public session Sept. 3 as the Board of Review to hear complaints and appeals related to ad valorem assessments. Staff told attendees the board had been advertised in accordance with state law and set a filing deadline for appeals.
"The deadline for receipt of appeals by taxpayers to the board of review will be 04:30PM, 09/14/2026," staff said during the council's opening remarks. The council also established a three‑minute limit for members of the public wishing to speak on items that will receive council action and a one‑minute limit for comments on procedural postponements.
A motion to open the Board of Review was made and seconded; the clerk recorded the motion as unanimous with one member absent. The council explained that if no appeals are lodged or if appeals are resolved administratively by the assessor’s office, the board session will expire without further council action.
The administrative rules announced by staff and the deadline provide the framework for property owners and their representatives to submit valuation appeals to the parish. The board recessed later in the meeting; the council indicated it would reconvene only if appeals were filed or unresolved.
