Council appoints eight members to Children & Youth Planning Board

The council voted Sept. 3 to appoint eight members to the Children & Youth Planning Board from a slate of nominees presented at the Aug. 6 meeting. The clerk read vote totals for each nominee before the clerk declared the successful nominees.

"Miss Willie received 12 votes. Judge Gardner received 12 votes. Mister Pyle received 12 votes... Sheriff Smith received 13 votes," the clerk read when announcing results. Based on the tallies, the council adopted a resolution appointing Susan Willie, Judge Scott Gardner, Patrick Pyle, Sheriff Jason Smith, Brandy Dore, Dr. Sebastian Del Corral, Shannon Christian and Jo Beth Valentino to the board.

Council members said the appointments followed prior nominations and that filling the board will help move planning and youth services initiatives forward. The council adopted the appointments by motion and recorded the action as unanimous with one absence.
