The council used part of the Sept. 3 meeting to present several proclamations recognizing local service and community organizations. Parish President Michael B. Cooper read a proclamation honoring Kirby C. Craddock for his service to Fire Protection District No. 7 and asked attendees to keep Craddock — who recently resigned after a liver‑cancer diagnosis — in their prayers.
"The Saint Tammany Parish Council desires to recognize and honor Kirby C Craddock for his distinguished service to Saint Tammany Parish," a proclamation read, noting his years of community and business service. Family members and local fire officials were present to receive the recognition.
Cooper also presented an employee‑of‑the‑month proclamation for Timothy J. Smith of Environmental Services, citing his work on household hazardous waste collection days, online permitting, and the triennial on‑site sewage inspection ordinance. Timothy Smith accepted and credited his team.
The council recognized the Saint Tammany Parish Cattlemen's Association for renewed leadership and youth outreach, and Councilwoman O'Brien presented the Mandeville High School robotics team 2992 (SS Prometheus) with a proclamation and a brief photo/video showing of their North Shore Knockout event.
Each proclamation was presented publicly, with council members and organization representatives offering short remarks of thanks and context about the groups’ local contributions.
