Kathleen Adams, owner of Angel of Harlem and a marshal for the African American Day Parade, described the restaurant’s role as a community anchor. "We really are like that mecca community hub for people to congregate," Adams said, explaining that the restaurant hosts art sales where proceeds go to artists and organizes events that support local causes.
Adams highlighted the restaurant’s community programming — Girl Scout brunches, monthly "impact" drinks that send proceeds to nonprofits, and meals provided during the COVID period to help food-insecure neighbors — and said the business sees itself as a partner for entrepreneurs. She listed customer favorites such as chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits and a short-rib dinner offering.
Adams said Angel of Harlem will collaborate with parade organizers and use its space to further local economic development through events and partnerships. She encouraged listeners to find the restaurant online at angelofharlemnyc.com and on Instagram.
