William Lorenzo Crawford, who identifies himself at the start of the recording as "I'm bill Crawford," told interviewers he was born in 1935 and has been a county resident for most of his life. "I'm 91 years old," he said, and described daily work "in the genealogy office," where he checks family records for residents of areas such as Dark Ridge and Little Savannah.
Crawford said family history has been a lifelong passion rooted in early conversations with his grandparents. He told the interviewer the county s anniversaries and centennial parades left lasting memories: "We had a parade about every day" at the 100-year celebration, he said. Crawford also detailed specific items he researches and preserves, including a centennial photo album and identification of people in historical tannery photos.
