The Crown Point Board of Public Works and Safety voted to approve change order No. 1 on the Southeast Wastewater Treatment Plant contract on Sept. 4, reducing the contract amount and formally extending the schedule to reflect shop‑drawing and procurement allowances.
Al told the board the negotiated change order would deduct $1,025,017 from the contract and that the contractor had been awarded up to 90 days for shop drawing reviews and material procurement. "I'd like the board's permission for the mayor to execute change order number 1 for a deduct of $1,025,017," Al said. The mayor moved to approve and the motion passed on voice vote.
Al explained the additional 90 days reflect time the contractor is contractually allowed for shop drawing reviews and procurement; staff elected to use that allowance rather than press for faster turnaround. The board approved the mayor signing the change order to formalize the deduct and the time extension.
The board also approved SRF disbursement No. 16 for $352,777 tied to the Southeast Plant's contractually allocated construction engineering funds during the same meeting.
