The committee advanced seven airport infrastructure grant applications from small municipal airports that seek Build Kansas matching funds for projects such as helipads, runway overlays, taxiway construction and a hangar. Jason said staff had reviewed all seven with KDOT aviation to avoid duplicate state funding and noted the applications together request $19,300,000 in Build Kansas contributions across the 12 total applications considered that day (the seven are a subset of that total).
Projects included a Greeley County helipad for medical air transport (application listed $11,447.50), Coffeyville runway mill and overlay ($28,149.45), a phased parallel taxiway for Smith Center ($13,503.30), Chanute runway rehabilitation and relocated threshold lighting ($24,149), Eureka apron and taxiway rehabilitation ($5,450), a 100-by-120-foot hangar in Colby ($26,586), and Allen County parallel taxiway earthwork and pavement ($20,638). Committee members asked technical and phasing questions and forwarded each application with no opposition recorded.
