The board authorized staff to schedule and advertise a zoning-ordinance rewrite workshop for Oct. 20 at 6:00 p.m. The workshop is intended as an introductory presentation of a near-final, form-based draft prepared by consultants and staff, not as the forum for final decisions.
Staff said the consultant will present the draft ordinance and explain the new form-based code approach; the presentation is intended to let the public and board members review the draft before submitting more detailed comments. As staff explained, subsequent steps will include public hearings, planning commission review and a 30-day review period; staff suggested a possible follow-up workshop or open-house format to collect comments. "The point of this workshop is to allow her to present her work to the board, to the public, to make the draft available to the public," a staff member said, and the board agreed to the Oct. 20 date with flexibility for additional sessions as needed.
