Bernalillo County, Cottonwood Gulch host free Family Fun Day at Bacheke on Sept. 5

Ellie, with Bernalillo County Open Space, opened the Family Fun Day at Bacheke Open Space and encouraged families to attend the county’s free monthly program. “We’re here today at Bacheke Open Space for our Family Fun Days,” Ellie said, and directed listeners to burnco.gov/familyfundays for more information.

Iris, the caretaker at Bacheke Open Space who works with Cottonwood Gulch Expeditions, said the day’s theme was the rock cycle and emphasized hands-on learning for children: “So today, September 5, we're learning about the rock cycle. We're helping kids to understand rock identification.” Activities planned included read-alongs and building models with Play‑Doh; Iris added that Family Fun Days are offered every first Saturday of the month and are provided at no cost through the partnership between Bernalillo County and Cottonwood Gulch Expeditions.
