The LCO liaison provided a sweeping community-services update, reporting expanded food-shelf hours and new behavioral-health staffing at the tribal health center. "And it is Monday and Fridays from 9 to 3," the liaison said, describing food-shelf availability. The liaison also introduced a new counselor, identifying him as "a licensed professional counselor" who brings experience working with veterans.
The liaison said the center has openings for nurse practitioners and an assistant to the doctor and described a broad schedule of recovery and prevention groups aimed at people in recovery and their families. She said counseling services will continue in local schools (Hayward, LCO and Winter) for the coming school year and that the tribe is pursuing supportive housing and a feasibility study for a new nursing home. The liaison asked the county to coordinate on outreach and encouraged residents to attend community events and classes at the health center.
