The county Office for the Aging reported month‑to‑month service metrics and upcoming grant opportunities for local food pantries.
"There were a total of 3,619 meals delivered in July to 226 clients," Laura, representing the Office for the Aging, told the committee. She said 29 home visits were performed by case management staff in July and that expanded in‑home services are steady at 29 cases with 16 on the waitlist. The office also reported 12,947 rides on fixed routes in July and more than 78,905 rides year‑to‑date on county transit.
Laura said the regional Food Forward program will release grant applications on Sept. 8 with awards of up to $50,000 to support pantry infrastructure and planning, with separate categories for organizations above and below $500,000 in annual budget. Committee members expressed concern about funding shortfalls at local pantries and discussed coordination through the county's quarterly food‑security coalition.
