On Aug. 31, 2026, the Board of Trustees of the Tom Bean Independent School District voted to amend its fiscal year 2025–2026 budget to increase multiple functional accounts across several funds.
"Motion made by Steve Rogers that the Board amend the fiscal year 2025-2026 budget by raising each function in Fund 199 the following amounts: Function 12 to be increased $12,000, Function 23 by $15,000, Function 31 by $15,000, Function 34 by $60,000, Function 41 by $85,000, Function 52 by $25,000, Function 53 by $10,000, Function 61 by 1,000 and Function 81 by $1,000; in Fund 240 Function 35 to be increased by $10,000; and in Fund 599 Function 71 to be increased by $10,096.50," Trustee Steve Rogers moved, and Trustee Billy McCoy seconded.
The motion carried 6 in favor, 0 opposed, with one member absent. The board recorded James Hamilton, Shawna Merriman, Beth Hale, Steve Rogers, Tom Sharp and Billy McCoy as voting "yea." The amendments increase line items in Fund 199 (operating and program functions), add $10,000 to Fund 240 Function 35, and add $10,096.50 to Fund 599 Function 71. The Superintendent had presented the proposed budget changes during the meeting's public hearing; no members of the public spoke.
The board did not attach additional conditions to the amendments. The approved changes will be reflected in the district's FY2025–26 amended budget documents and in routine financial reporting to the trustees.
