Commission forms three ad hoc committees for public art, events/outreach and grants

After extended discussion about priorities for the coming year, the commission approved a motion to form three ad hoc committees focused on public art (maintenance and RFPs), events and outreach, and community grants review.

Chair (speaker 1) moved to form the three ad hocs and the motion was seconded. The secretary conducted a roll call; commissioners present recorded their support and staff confirmed volunteer assignments. As read back by staff, volunteers included: events and outreach — Dunlap, Wilson and Nervous; public art — Hekmat and Tovar; grants — Nervous and Tovar. The motion created the ad hocs so they may begin work before the commission’s next meeting in November.

Commissioners emphasized that ad hocs are limited to a maximum of three commissioners and are intended as short-term working groups that report back to the full commission. Staff said they would circulate proposed scopes and that commissioners could change memberships later if needed.
