The committee was told the Lago gate is repaired and operating after staff installed a wireless transponder feed to the gate control panel.
Director Brandon Arino reported the repair and said the vendor had proposed an expensive test to run exposed wires (about $2,500) before the wireless transponder approach was suggested and implemented. He told the group the new wireless installation should stop many of the repeat calls about gate malfunctions: “The Lago gate is now fixed.”
Members then discussed safety: Brandon said there were 12 recorded incidents last month of residents hitting gate arms, and the committee debated better signage (neon yellow was proposed), softer physical speed controls, and enforcement mechanisms. One member said the RMA compliance committee is considering fines to recoup repair costs and suggested starting fines at $100; committee members said they will consult the fire chief and RMA compliance for operational and safety constraints before adopting any fines or physical measures.
No formal enforcement policy was adopted at the meeting; staff were directed to pursue improved signage and consult the fire chief and RMA on feasible safety controls.
