Staff provided an update on cybersecurity work and a planned boardroom audiovisual upgrade.
Staff member Andy Lee said a level‑2 security package is being onboarded, he has begun penetration testing and is pursuing Sophos certification for the new firewall. He described work on incident‑response and business‑continuity planning and said some VCISO services had been quoted at about $3,000 a month. “I’ve started to work on the Sophos for certification,” he said.
The committee also reviewed a budgeted $25,000 line for a new boardroom system; staff described a ceiling‑mounted tilt/zoom camera, microphone array, Teams integration, automated speaker labeling for remote participants and recording capability. Committee members stressed Brown Act compliance and said the system will not be used to live‑stream meetings by default; staff noted a Teams Rooms add‑on and cloud recording capability (a recurring Teams Rooms fee was discussed, described in the meeting as about $40 a month). The committee authorized staff to proceed with the budgeted purchase and to prepare short, plain‑language bullet points for residents describing what the system does and does not provide.
