A representative for the association/public library told the Town Board Sept. 2 that the building department requires permit and inspection review for a new space the library is opening and requested the town ask that the plan-review and inspection fees be waived so taxpayer funds are not exchanged back and forth.
"So in order to obtain a new CO and a fire inspection, they're requiring us to go through the whole building permit process… they said to me to not have to pass taxpayer money back and forth that we should write a letter to request the permit plan review and inspection fees associated with the space to be waived," the library representative said.
The representative said the library will invite town officials to tour the space the week of Sept. 14 and that the library provides free meeting space for nonprofits and parent groups. The library also thanked the Carmel Police Department for offering training on safety and security protocols.
