The Pearsall Independent School District Board of Trustees met in a special session on Aug. 31 and took several fiscal actions, including authorizing a defeasance plan to prepay an estimated $805,000 of the district’s Unlimited Tax School Building Bonds, Series 2020, and adopting the district’s 2026 tax rates. Business Manager Lisa Fernandez presented the proposed 2026–2027 budget and explained the tax-rate options; the board opened a public hearing but received no comments and closed the hearing at 6:46 p.m.
On formal motions, the board approved a defeasance resolution and adopted the 2026 tax-rate resolution setting the Maintenance & Operations rate at 0.75520 per $100 of valuation and the Interest & Sinking rate at 0.15484 per $100, which the minutes record as a combined rate of 0.91004 per $100. The board also approved an end-of-year budget amendment to keep expenditures within Texas Education Agency accounting rules and adopted the proposed 2026–2027 budget.
