Justin Quayle used his public-comment time to say he has tried repeatedly to contact Sheriff Bingham and has not received a response, despite being told by the board's director to seek the sheriff's input on his case.
Quayle said he was cleared by a previous sheriff but denied under the current sheriff's review, and that he sought legal advice from five local attorneys who described the county's handling as "illegal" or an "abuse of power." He told supervisors that nobody had investigated alleged seizures on his property, and that he had to hire private investigators and install surveillance because he is "scared of my own government."
"I spent almost $23,000 on personal protection video cameras because I'm scared of my own government," Quayle said. He also claimed he was required to speak with the sheriff before cultivating yet still was required to pay cultivation taxes, framing the series of events as a combination of administrative and enforcement failures.
The transcript records these claims as public comment; no sheriff's-office response appears in the recorded portion of the meeting.
