The parks director (speaker 9) updated the board on recent capital work and community programming, saying "we just spent about $800,000 on this project" when describing LED conversions at Community Park that improve lighting for youth sports. He said staff are closing out the project while identifying additional needs such as bathroom interior renovations and potential infield and fence work at the softball complex.
The director also highlighted community events and fundraising: an Oktoberfest at Quail Valley Golf Club (Sept. 19), a suicide‑prevention vigil on Sept. 10 in partnership with county and faith groups, and the Parks Foundation’s 'Golf 4 Parks' fundraiser aiming to raise $75,000 for East Hampton Park. Staff reported Taste of Missouri City attendance above 2,000 and that the Palmer House nonprofit received about $1,400 in dunk‑tank proceeds.
