County staff told supervisors that the 911 center's general property tax support and operating costs rose modestly, with the operating increase primarily attributable to software and subscription fees and to repair and maintenance on communications equipment. "That's about 38,000. That's the bulk of it right there," the presenter said when describing the software increase.
Supervisors asked for examples of miscellaneous repairs; staff and a technical speaker listed generator repairs, replacement radiators and heaters at tower sites, damaged microwave satellite-dish screens from last year's hailstorm, and routine tower-site maintenance. Separately, staff confirmed a $20 million EMS/system upgrade has been incorporated into the capital project plan and will appear as a single-page item in the November budget book adoption after prior board approvals.
