Dunedin commissioners voted Sept. 3 to raise marina slip user fees by 7% effective Oct. 1, 2026, as part of a multi‑year effort to bring marina rates in line with long‑range financial needs.
Finance staff recapped a 2022 consultant rate study that recommended staged increases; the city implemented three 10% increases (2023–2025). Staff said the 2026 increase was reduced to 7% in light of an unexpected $3 million state appropriation for hurricane repairs. "The city received a $3,000,000 state appropriation for fiscal year 2027 to support hurricane repair and restoration at the Dunedin Marina," staff said, noting the funds will help with replacement and repairs of Docks A and B.
Staff and commissioners cautioned that the Marina Fund's long‑range plan assumes FEMA and the state will fully fund floating dock replacement; if FEMA declines full reimbursement, additional rate increases or other funding measures may be needed. Harbour Master Lori Ferguson confirmed the marina enforces slip delinquency policies and has previously auctioned an abandoned vessel when necessary; staff also described typical hurricane readiness steps, including recommending owners haul trailered vessels when possible.
The resolution passed unanimously. Staff said they will continue to monitor FEMA eligibility and bring future rate adjustments to the commission if balance projections change.
