On Sept. 3 the Commissioner's Court approved several procurement and public-safety items. Purchasing staff recommended awarding the bulk asphalt patching-material bid to Asphalt Patch Enterprises after three responses were received; the court approved the award and authorized the purchasing agent to execute related documents.
The court also approved evaluation-committee memberships for RFQs on engineering and architectural prequalification pools, and accepted the evaluation committee's top score for an executive-recruitment-services RFQ (Mackenzie Easton/Eason was reported as highest-scoring and staff was authorized to begin contract negotiations).
Separately, Constable Precinct 2 requested and received approval to purchase two rifle-resistant ballistic shields from the Justice Court Security Fund for use in the JP2 office and courtroom. The constable described the shields as a practical, rifle-resistant option intended to provide another protective tool in the county's multiuse building.
All items were approved by motion; the public record shows voice votes with motions carried.
